Services / Google Business Profile

The profile the map pack
is built from.

Your Google Business Profile is the single asset local results are drawn from. Managed properly, category, services, attributes, photos, posts, Q&A, and reviews, it is the highest-impact work in local SEO. We run it as a standalone engagement or as the core of the full program.

Primary category
The strongest relevance signal in the pack, and the most commonly wrong
Review recency
A steady flow of recent reviews, not just a good average
Completeness
Every field filled: services, attributes, hours, photos
Compliance
Set up so a bad edit or a competitor report doesn't take it down
Why this comes first

The map pack is
your profile, ranked.

When Google builds the three-result local pack, it is not ranking your website. It is ranking Business Profiles, scored on relevance to the search, distance from the searcher, and prominence. Your profile is the only one of those three you can directly shape, which is why it is the first thing we fix and the thing we never stop maintaining. How to rank in the map pack covers the mechanism.

Most underperforming profiles have the same handful of problems: a primary category that is close but not exact, half the service list missing, no photos added since setup, reviews that stopped months ago, and a business name padded with keywords that puts the whole listing at suspension risk. The optimization checklist is the full build we work from.

A profile can also simply stop showing, from a lost verification, a competitor's edit, a duplicate listing, or a spam filter. Why a profile isn't showing up and the reinstatement guide cover diagnosis and recovery, both of which we handle directly with Google.

What we manage

Every field,
on an ongoing basis.

Category, services, and attributes
Primary category checked against the businesses ranking for your core searches, secondary categories added only where they genuinely apply, and the full service list and attributes completed. Choosing your categories and setting up your services cover both in depth.
Review generation and response
A compliant request that goes out after every completed job, plus prompt, specific replies to what you already have. How to get and manage Google reviews is the method.
Posts and offers
A regular posting cadence showing specific, recent work, which contributes more than a burst of generic updates and gives searchers a reason to click.
Photos, on a schedule
Real photos of your team, vehicles, and finished work added on an ongoing basis. Recency signals an active business; a photo set frozen at setup does not.
Q&A monitoring
The questions customers post publicly on your profile answered accurately and quickly, and the common ones seeded so the answer is there before someone has to ask.
Reporting and protection
Monthly reporting on calls, direction requests, and profile views tied to the actions we took, plus monitoring for the edits, duplicate listings, and false "permanently closed" flags that quietly take a profile down. Reporting fake listings and map spam covers the competitor side.
How we run it

Cleanup first,
then a cadence.

Almost every stalled profile has the same root cause: a wrong category, a suspension risk nobody spotted, or a listing that has not been touched since setup. We fix that, then keep it moving with work that runs every week rather than once.

01
Profile Audit & Cleanup
We check for incorrect categories, suspended status flags, duplicate listings, and missing information that quietly suppress visibility.
02
Optimization Sprint
Categories, services, attributes, and photos brought fully up to date and aligned with what your ideal customers actually search for.
03
Review & Content Cadence
Review requests, response management, and weekly posts launched on a consistent schedule, not sporadically.
04
Monthly Performance Review
We track calls, direction requests, and profile views month over month, and adjust the cadence based on what is driving results.
What to expect

How the change usually shows up.

Category and completeness fixes tend to move profile insights within a few weeks. Review-driven gains build over the following two to four months and keep compounding. The order it lands in is usually the same: more profile views, then more calls and direction requests, then map-pack position.
Timing depends on your competition, your starting point, and Google's own changes. Nothing here is guaranteed.

Common Questions

Questions we get asked.

How is Google Business Profile management different from local SEO?
The Business Profile is the single asset the map pack is drawn from, so managing it well is the highest-impact part of local SEO. Local SEO is the wider program around it: citations, local content and landing pages, local link building, and schema. This service is the profile piece, run standalone or as the core of the full program.
What if my profile was suspended or flagged?
We identify the cause, usually a keyword-stuffed name, an address that does not match a real staffed location, a service-area business showing an address, or a batch of edits that triggered a review, correct it, and file for reinstatement with evidence the business is legitimate. The reinstatement guide is the full process.
Can you help generate more reviews?
Yes, within Google's rules. Incentivised reviews and review gating are prohibited, so we build a compliant request that goes out after every completed job and pair it with prompt, specific responses. Recency and response rate both matter, not just the star average.
Do you manage profiles for businesses with several locations?
Yes. The same process runs location by location, with reporting broken out per location rather than averaged. Multi-location profiles also carry risks a single listing does not: incorrect location grouping and bulk-edit flags among them.
My business has no storefront customers visit. Does that change the setup?
Yes. A service-area business should hide its address and set an accurate service area. Showing an address you do not staff is a guideline violation that gets profiles suspended, and claiming a service area far larger than you cover tends to weaken rankings everywhere rather than extend them. Google Business Profile for service-area businesses is the full setup.
Why might my profile just stop showing up?
Lost verification, a competitor's "suggest an edit", a duplicate listing splitting your signal, a spam filter, or simply ranking on the third page of the map. Why a profile isn't showing up walks through diagnosing which one it is.
